I saw an Eastern Bluebird in Southern Ohio when I was on vacation recently. It was perched in twiggy brush, all bright and cheerful looking in the cold.
I am reteaching myself how to use watercolors with a set I received at Christmas. I need to get some frisket so I can block out areas to keep them white.
This is beautiful! I love the shading of the twig and the curve of the beak!
ReplyDeleteWhat's frisket? Sounds like a great name for a puppy!
Sometimes I forget how talented you are!
ReplyDeleteFrisket is kind of like rubber cement - you can apply it on the unpainted parts of the paper so when you paint the watercolor doesn't seep into areas you want to keep crisp and white.
ReplyDeleteI could have drawn the bird and then put frisket over the drawing, painted the whole background, then removed it and had the blank areas to keep painting in. Or put frisket on the belly part of the bird to keep it white.
Looking forward to following your blog. I've added it to my Google Reader!
