Penelope Pancakes
My little hamster nugget, Penelope Pancakes, is very very sick. She is 2 years old and is losing steam. This picture is from February of this year, when she was feeling perkier. We're trying to keep her comfortable and have some special food to feed her from the vets. I've also been giving her water from a syringe so she doesn't have to try so hard to get it from her water bottle. I held her as she slept for an hour tonight. She wouldn't stay still like that if she was feeling well.

Statuesque Horse
To catch up on the blog, I'm going back through years of photos I've taken and making computer wallpapers for you to use. This is a statue I photographed at the St Louis Art Museum in March 2009.

Colorway Butterfly
To catch up on the blog, I'm going back through years of photos I've taken and making computer wallpapers for you to use. This butterfly was at the Brookfield Zoo in June 2007. I used to get in the butterfly house for free since I was a volunteer. It was a peaceful place to wander around.

Penguin Grooming
To catch up on the blog, I'm going back through years of photos I've taken and making computer wallpapers for you to use. This penguin was at the St. Louis Zoo in March 2009. Some of the penguins were outside and right up against the side of their enclosure so I could take pictures of them really really close.

Silvery Seal
Back in March I drew a few critters from a "How To Draw Baby Animals" book. I unearthed the book from my crafting bookcase and drew a few more. This little seal is bouncing a ball on his nose. I used a metallic silver Sharpie to color him in.
If you tilt the drawing, you can really see how shimmery the silver is. I really like it.

Tadpole Cat Toy
And now Neo shows off the cat toy version of last week's Business Tadpole drawing.
The tadpole lost it's hat and briefcase somewhere though!

Pig Cat Toy
Neo helps show off the cat toy version of last week's Pig Relaxing drawing.
I doodled on the spots with Sharpie and embroidered around them.

This post is a bit different....
I have been struggling to work on my art and my blog for the last few weeks. I have just been feeling awful. I posted last week I was having some health problems and I've been to the doctor a few times. I have diagnosis's now and a plan to try to feel better.
I don't want to stop creating art. I miss embroidering and making stuffed animals. I need to decide if I update a few times a week with multiple items I've made. I guess I'll have to wait and see how I react to the medications they're going to give me.
I feel a bit lost in the direction of my blog right now but I want to figure it out. I will have some more art posted in the next few days to catch up. Thanks for your patience.

How to draw a Radish Week: Pig Relaxing
I've had this book How To Draw A Radish And Other Fun Things To Do At Work by Joy Sikorski for years. The first page says "drawing is easy and fun" and I agree. I'm going to follow her lessons this week to get back in the swing of blogging.
The instructions in this book state - 1. Open to any page 2. Proceed. Sounds good to me! There are over 80 lessons in the book and I'll randomly open the pages until I find something crittery to draw.
Today's lesson is Lesson 70. Pig Relaxing

Buckeye Butterfly
From the butterfly house in June of 2007. I played around with some filters on this one - the original photo was titled "Purple Orange Brown". I think it looks peaceful this way.

Critters from Cheeseblarg's Scavenger Hunt!
One of my favorite blogs is having a scavenger hunt - Cheeseblarg's First Official Scavenger Hunt! JRose posted this on Wednesday and I see a bunch of people have already submitted their hunt results - Yay! I drew a few of the more crittery hunt items this morning.
1. A cat in a window
2. Bare feet in grass
(and my addition of bear feet in grass) :P
4. A squeaker
Ooooooooooh and I just realized that some of my previous critters can totally work for this hunt too!
7. Someone wearing a hat
(From July 9th)
8. A bird, not in a tree
(From July 26th)
14. Something I talk about all the time but have not put on the list
How about a unicorn! (From March 7th)
17. Something nerdy
Hermione's otter Patronus (From July 14th)
Now I'm inspired to try to finish the scavenger hunt this weekend!

Good'day Mate
More photos from days gone by that I took, made into computer wallpapers. These guys lived in the Hamill Family Play Zoo at the Brookfield Zoo back in June 2007. One was named Goodday and one was Mate :)
